We cleared the point just
after noon and headed south with a fantastic load of large cured sardines
(thank you Everingham brothers).
Skipper Brian Kiyohara started us off around 120 miles looking for kelp
patties. We hooked a lot of
yellowtail but only a few of the bigger ones. The next day we moved back up to the 80 mile area and caught
our daily limit of bluefin tuna (from 8 to 70 pounds). The next day we did it again for about
60 more bluefin. For our last day
of fishing, Brian took us south again (to 160 miles) for bigger
yellowtails. After a lot of kelp
patty action we turned north and called it a trip.
What a trip it was. We all made new fishermen friends, had
great meals (way too much food for most of us) and had a chance to use the
latest fishing gear from Accurate, Calstar and Izroline. Accurate provided loaner Boss reels and
their matching Accurate rods.
Calstar provided several new and popular bait fishing rods and Izorline
provided spectra and fluorocarbon.
In addition, Salas provided surface and yoyo jigs, Swifty Mfg provided
line de-spoolers & spectra washing inserts and Maui Jim supported the trip
with a VIP voucher for a pair of sunglasses. Thank you to Baja Fish Gear for providing rod ties and
gift cards for the passengers.
Congratulatons to our
jackpot winners. 1st
place, John Berekoff 70# bluefin;
2nd place, Tony Contreras with a substantially larger 67.5#
bluefin than 3rd place Roger Kuramoto’s 67# bluefin (it was
substantial to Tony since it was bigger than Rogers and that is all that
mattered to Tony). John
Berekoff also won the Accurate trophy for the largest fish caught on a Accurate
reel. The daily prize winners
were: Arthur Ramirez won a Calstar
rod, John Berekoff won a Boss 500
reel, Tony Contreras won a Accurate sweatshirt, John Liu won a
complete Swifty de-spooling and washing system and Dr. Mike Uyeki won a sunglass voucher from Maui Jim.
Accurate will be sponsoring
this trip again next year (Mon. July 28 - Sat. Aug 2, 2014). It you are interested in joining us
next year, give Lori a call at the American Angler office. Check out the following photos of the
passengers having fun.
Thanks for checking out my

Hey Gary, it seems you had a lot of fun. Thanks for putting up such beautiful pictures.
Yes you are right Gary when you said we can make new friends and get to know about new things in life through deep sea fishing charters. I have made some wonderful friends over the years of my fishing expeditions. I met new people, saw new places, and ate new food. And at the end of it all, I made some really interesting friends. But one thing I realized through my various fishing trips. You should always listen to the local people, talk to them and figure out how to approach.
Fishing Reels is very very important for fishing, thanks for provide us useful information here.
I love the little info provided on this blog. Thanks for sharing.
